Back to School With New Supplies

There is something special about the start of a new school year. New teachers, new classmates, new lessons, and the excitement of beginning another year of learning. For children, it is a time filled with anticipation and possibility.

But for families struggling financially, preparing for the school year can bring a very different kind of pressure. The cost of a new backpack, notebooks, pencils, folders, and other school supplies can quickly add up. When a family is already struggling to afford food, rent, and other necessities, purchasing everything a child needs for school can feel out of reach.

Every child deserves to start the school year with the same excitement and confidence as their classmates, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.

Giving Children the Tools They Need

Each year, Yad Ezra V’Shulamit distributes thousands of new backpacks and school supplies to children in need throughout Israel. These supplies give children the practical tools they need to begin the school year prepared and ready to learn.

A new backpack may seem like a simple gift, but to a child, it can mean so much more. It can bring excitement about the first day of school and the confidence that comes from having the supplies they need to participate and learn alongside their classmates.

We want every child to return to school excited and prepared, with the tools they need to learn, participate, and make the most of the year ahead.

Yad Ezra V’Shulamit’s support goes beyond food. Along with food assistance, our programs provide children with essential items that help them feel prepared, cared for, and confident. Our clothing and supplies programs also provide children with new winter coats, boots, and other necessities throughout the year.

More Than School Supplies

Providing a child with a backpack filled with school supplies is about more than notebooks and pencils. It is about giving children the confidence to succeed.

When children have the supplies they need, they can walk into the classroom ready to learn, participate, and take on new challenges. They can focus on their lessons and their goals rather than worrying about what they may be missing.

Having the supplies they need to succeed in school helps put children on a course for long-term success. When they can begin the school year prepared and confident, they are better able to focus on learning and develop their skills. Over time, this can help children build a brighter future and break the cycle of poverty.
Our back-to-school program is part of Yad Ezra V’Shulamit’s larger mission to support children facing poverty and give them the resources and encouragement they need to reach their potential.

Starting the Year with Hope

Behind every backpack is a child preparing for a new beginning. There is a first day of school to look forward to, new things to learn, and opportunities to discover new interests and talents.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the dedication of our volunteers, thousands of Israeli children can begin the school year with a new backpack and the supplies they need. They can walk into their classrooms feeling prepared, confident, and ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.

A new school year is a chance for every child to start fresh. Together, we can help make sure that children facing financial hardship have the supplies, confidence, and support to succeed today and build a brighter future tomorrow.
