Feeding Israel with Dignity

Jun 30, 2026

At Yad Ezra V’Shulamit we aim to feed the poor respectfully and restore their sense of dignity.

We believe that helping people in need is not only about meeting physical needs, but about preserving self-respect, stability, and hope. That is why our mission is not just to provide food and essentials, but to do so with dignity.

Food is Essential

Food is the most basic human need. Without it, we simply can’t live. When a family does not have enough to eat, every other aspect of life is affected. Stability weakens, stress increases, and when a person becomes dependent on charity for food, their sense of self-worth tends to fade. Many lose hope for a better tomorrow.

Providing food to Israel’s needy is our highest priority. But we also understand that the way we give matters almost as much as the food itself. Our goal is to restore the dignity of the poor so they don’t lose their sense of self; so they can hope for a better tomorrow.

Every day, we distribute hot meals to individuals and families who have nowhere else to turn. Every week, we prepare and deliver food baskets filled with essential staples to homes across Israel.

For thousands of families, these meals are not just nourishment, they are relief, stability, and the reassurance that they are not alone.

Clothing: Restoring Confidence

Dignity is also deeply connected to how a person presents themselves to the world.

We provide warm coats and boots during the winter months, ensuring children and families are protected from the cold. Before holidays and special occasions, we distribute new clothing and shoes so that families can celebrate with pride and confidence.

Something as simple as a new coat or a pair of shoes gives underprivileged children a sense of love and self-respect.

School Supplies: Building a Future

When a child walks into school with the right supplies, they carry more than a backpack. They carry confidence. They are able to participate fully, learn effectively, and feel equal to their peers.

By providing school supplies, we help children focus not on what they can achieve.

Privacy: Respect Above All Else

Dignity also means respect.

We are deeply committed to protecting the privacy of every individual and family we assist. We do not share stories, names, or details unless we have received explicit permission to do so.

Even when sharing could help illustrate our work, we choose to prioritize the dignity of those we serve above all else. This commitment is central to who we are, even when it is difficult.

A Mission of Dignity

From food and clothing to education and weddings, dignity is behind everything we do.

We help a widow striving to feed her children. A father doing everything he can to make ends meet. A Holocaust survivor worried about tomorrow. A child carrying responsibilities far too heavy for their age.

Each donation helps provide thousands of food baskets and hot meals to families across Israel, offering support, hope, and dignity.
