From Challenge to Hope: 62,113 Food Baskets Delivered

Apr 14, 2026

Pesach in Israel was not simple this year.

Missiles were flying. Sirens echoed through cities and neighborhoods. Families faced uncertainty not only outside their homes, but within them as well. More than ever, people across the country found themselves struggling to put food on the table.

The need was overwhelming. Requests for help poured in, surpassing anything we have seen in previous years. A waiting list of over 5,000 families grew quickly, each name representing a household hoping for a dignified and meaningful holiday.

And yet, together, we rose to meet the moment.

With the incredible support of our donors, 62,113 food baskets were distributed ahead of Pesach. That includes 60,000 planned baskets, along with an additional 2,113 baskets that reached families who had been waiting, hoping, and praying not to be forgotten.

Because of this, thousands more families were able to sit at their Seder tables with the essentials they needed.

A Family Like Sarit’s

Sarit, a single mother from Be’er Sheva, is raising her two young daughters on her own. Since the war began, she lost her job and has been struggling just to keep up with basic expenses.

As Pesach approached, the weight of providing for her children during the holiday became too much to carry alone.

She reached out.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Sarit and her daughters were taken off the waiting list and received a full food basket in time for the Seder. For them, it meant more than food- it meant relief, dignity, and the ability to celebrate Pesach together as a family.

What 62,113 Food Baskets Really Means

Behind every number is a family, but the scale of what was accomplished is truly remarkable; 869,582 potatoes, 993,808 carrots, 310,565 pounds of matzah, 124,226 bottles of grape juice.

Each item carefully packed. Each box delivered with care. Each one making a real difference in someone’s life.

Looking Ahead with Purpose

As we approach Holocaust Remembrance Day, we pause as a nation to remember the millions of lives that were lost and the unimaginable suffering endured by those who survived.

For many Holocaust survivors living in Israel today, those memories are not distant history, they are part of their daily reality. Aging, often alone, and living on limited means, struggling to afford even the most basic necessities.

This is where remembrance becomes action. Honoring their past also means caring for them in the present, ensuring they can live with dignity, security, and the simple comfort of having food on the table.

Yad Ezra V’Shulamit proudly supports Holocaust survivors across Israel, delivering weekly food baskets that provide not only nourishment, but also a message: you are not forgotten.

Especially during this season, as we move from the story of our redemption on Pesach to the remembrance of the Holocaust, we are reminded that even in the darkest times of suffering and loss, the strength of the Jewish people endures and hope continues to rise.

Together, We Make It Possible

In a year filled with challenges, this time of reflection became a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together.

Thank you for making it happen.
