Give the Gift of Warmth to a Child in Israel This Chanukah
Dec 15, 2025
As the Chanukah candles begin to glow this winter, many of us are preparing to celebrate with family, light, and warmth. But for thousands of families in Israel, especially in the Northern communities such as Kiryat Shmona, this year the cold season feels different. Many are facing deep financial hardship, with little means to keep their children warm.
Since the war, the economic collapse in the North has been devastating. According to a recent report, roughly 21,000 businesses have closed across the region. Many small shops and service-industry establishments remain shuttered; dozens of stores and offices have gone out of business. What was once a bustling city is now a quiet place where families struggle to rebuild.
Unemployment and loss of income have struck especially hard. Households across the North have reported a sharp fall in income since the fighting began. Many families are now forced to choose between basic necessities - food, heat, shelter.
Every Child Deserves a Warm Winter
Chanukah is a time for miracles, light in the darkness, hope in adversity. For children living in the northern cities, towns that feel more like ghost towns, warmth is not just comfort, it is survival.
No one feels winter’s cold like a child. And no child should go without a warm coat, a pair of boots, a blanket, or a heater, especially during Chanukah, a holiday centered around warmth, hope, and light.
This season, Yad Ezra is ensuring that every child who needs warmth receives it.
We are distributing winter packages to families throughout Israel and increasing support in communities where recovery has been especially slow.
Double Your Impact — All Donations Are Matched
Thanks to generous supporters, every donation this Chanukah is being matched. This means every gift becomes twice as powerful.
With each contribution, we are providing warm coats and winter boots for children, blankets and heaters for cold nights, and essential food supplies so families don’t go cold or hungry.
Focus on the North - Help Rebuild Lives, One Family at a Time
This year, while our donations will reach families across Israel, we are placing extra emphasis on northern communities still struggling to rebuild. Areas like Kiryat Shmona and other border towns that bore the brunt of evacuations, business closures, and disrupted livelihoods.
We believe in resilience. We believe in rebuilding. And we believe in community. With the help of our donors, we can bring warmth, hope, and dignity back into thousands of homes.
Every child deserves a warm coat. Every family deserves comfort.
