With summer here, it's time to prepare fun activities for you kids over the summer. It's the perfect time to take your kids out of the house and explore. But with all the fun things to do in Israel, it can be hard to know where to start.

Whether you're looking for something really adventurous or just want to relax and enjoy the sights, there are plenty of kid-friendly activities that can be both educational and entertaining.

Volunteer for a charity

How about doing something that is not only fun but also teaches your kids to be empathetic and supportive of others? Sign up for volunteer work at the Yad Ezra V'Shulamit.

Pack food baskets at the charity's food distribution warehouse. The organization distributes food and resources to people who need them most in the community. It's an excellent way for you and your child to work together and make a difference in someone else's life.

Go hiking

If your kids are old enough to have their own backpacks, go hiking. The trails are calling your name!

Israel has plenty of water, forests, rivers, natural spring, and other hiking trails. And the good news is that many of them are free. All over the country you can find a range of hiking trails ranging from really easy to very difficult.

Plus, some trails, including the Big Juba (northern Golan Heights), Ma'arat Keshet (Western Upper Galil), Apollonia National Park (north of Herzliya), and several other places, are wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Enjoy a day tour at museums

Israel has many notable museums, including the Israel Museum. Science Museum in Jerusalem, and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Both museums display unique exhibits that will keep you busy for days or even just an afternoon. There are numerous day tour options, many of which are free of cost.

Use this excellent listing from Fun In Jerusalem as your museum planner. You can even sort out the choices according to ages, like teens, toddlers, or adults.

Participate in a glass workshop

If your kids love making things with glass or metal, sign up for a workshop. They'll get hands-on experience with glassblowing and can watch master glassblowers create works of art from scratch.

These workshops let you create your own piece of art. You'll learn all the techniques needed to create stunning works of art and then show off what you've made at the end of your workshop.

Take a real excavation adventure

If you're looking for a real adventure, consider taking your kids on an actual excavation trip. The site is in Beit Guvrin in the Lachish region, and you can book a trip for the "Dig For A Day'' event here.

Excavating in underground caves allows you to get up close and personal with archaeology. You and your children can get to dig up some fantastic artifacts dating back thousands of years.
