So how was your Purim? Ours was fantastic, again thanks to you! As we mentioned in our previous post, last week was a very busy time for the staff at Yad Ezra V’Shulamit. We started the week off with a pre-Purim party that included a lot of food, fun and games, balloons, and of course laughter and joy. The kids who participated in the event were, for several hours, living life as a child should.
We also organized the distribution of food rations for the Purim feast for patients in hospitals such as the Rambam hospital in Haifa. This was all planned and is being carried out by dedicated volunteers. That turned out to be an extremely positive event, where dozens of patients were filled with happiness throughout the day.
Then came Purim. Though in Israel many people take the day off from work, much of our staff was hard at work in the office. We made sure food baskets were distributed to the poor and this was no simple task. Hundreds of baskets were prepared and distributed throughout the city. But, that’s not all.
As per our usual working methods, we have already started planning for Passover. Though plenty of people are still talking about the fun they had over Purim, Passover is right around the corner. Preparing for this holiday is one of the most difficult yet rewarding tasks during the year. Yes, we focus on the distribution of food baskets. However, we also do so much more. We interact with the people that need help. We provide boxes of Matzah. We make sure they are truly ready for the Passover holiday.
We will, of course, keep you updated on our special plans and events leading up to Passover. So make sure to pop on over again to see the latest going on at Yad Ezra V’Shulamit!
