Albert Einstein said that “Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted, counts.”

At Yad Ezra V’Shulamit’s Jerusalem warehouse, our counting counts. Our dedicated and energetic volunteers know that without their hours of work, we could not feed the hundreds of families that receive our food baskets daily. From the moment they arrive at our warehouse, volunteers understand the magnitude of their contribution. From box assembly, to food organization, from food placement in boxes to packaging, our production line is staffed by people who understand that giving comes from the heart, not just the hands. 3000 food baskets distributed weekly, count that! And that’s why we are so successful.

Volunteering time to give those less fortunate is an amazing part of a summer vacation, educational program, or bar/bat mitzvah trip to Israel. The value of volunteering as part of the Israel experience, giving to Israeli’s whose lives are less fortunate and rely upon our help, is nothing short of noble. How many people spend their vacation or special occasions focusing solely on their own needs? How many people think beyond the scope of their own fun, enjoyment, or schedule, to make time to give to those less fortunate? Fortunately, at the warehouse, volunteers not only get to have an enriching experience, they also get to enjoy the process. The warehouse boasts a no-frills attitude. Our expenses go directly to the people who need them most, and our volunteers understand that this experience is authentic with one goal; To give to the people who need it most.

So consider those less fortunate next time you make your trip to Israel. Let us know when you too can contribute and be part of our amazing operation.
