Now that the Passover holiday has come to a close, it seems like everyone is going back to their routines. Unfortunately, the routine for many impoverished children in Israel has gone unchanged. While they received a ton of help over the holiday season, it’s back to reality for them.

Naturally, our staff is continuing to work diligently on helping every needy child in Israel. The one problem? Funds are limited, even with your generous donations that came through over the Passover holiday. This is especially true for our Children’s Center, which focuses on providing daily meals and extra-curricular activities for children.

As we have mentioned extensively over the past several months, we strive to help any child that comes through our doors. However, sadly, many times we simply don’t have enough resources to make that happen. Such is the case this week with a family of seven.

Israel, Miriam, Aviha, and Raphael are four children that live in the heart of Jerusalem. For them, growing up is very different than from your average kid. Their younger brother Yakir was recently diagnosed with Aurora – a brainstem disease. Due to this extreme hardship, both parents spend most of their days in the hospital with Yakir. Between the constant medical examinations and medicines, the other four children rarely see their parents. Who plays with the four siblings? Who watches them? Who helps with homework? Who provides hot meals, or even regular meals for that matter?

Regrettably, often times there is no one to help out. The oldest, Israel, is only 12 years old. While he is mature beyond his years, he is still only a child. Thus, Yakir’s siblings are going through a very rough patch right now.

Their story makes them a perfect match for Yad Ezra V’Shulamit’s Children’s Center. Their parents have been pleading with Yad Ezra V’Shulamit to take care of the children and provide them with everything they need, at least until one of them feels comfortable leaving the hospital. We have moved them to the top of the waiting list, however they are still waiting.

Please help Israel, Miriam, Aviha and Raphael make it into the Children’s Center. Your small donation can help four children like this for one whole month! The staff here at Yad Ezra V’Shulamit, along with all of the children and families, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
