WHO WE ARE

Yad Ezra V’Shulamit fights hunger and poverty in Israel. The organization provides food and basic supplies to those that are in need throughout the country – orphans, widows, single parents, poor families, those too sick to work, the elderly (including holocaust survivors) and new immigrants. Our goal is to make sure everyone has food, to ease the suffering of impoverished families, break the cycle of poverty and give children from needy families a chance for a better future.

Founded in 1988, the organization began by delivering food baskets to fifty local families. Today we deliver 10,000 food baskets weekly and 50,000 for Pesach and Rosh HaShanah in 80 distribution points throughout Israel. In addition, we have Children’s Centers feeding over 500 children every day.

Understanding that poverty does not exist in a vacuum, over the years the organization increased its services beyond providing food with programs such as academic enrichment for underprivileged children.

Social welfare reports indicate that one third of children in Israel are growing up below the poverty line. Today, nearly 100,000 individuals depend on Yad Ezra V’Shulamit for basic food supplies and to help them break our of the cycle of poverty.
